FAQ
Which apps does it work with?
React 19 apps running in dev mode, on Vite or Next. Tailwind 3 and 4 and CSS custom properties are read as tokens. Tavero needs nothing added to the project: it reads the debug data React keeps in dev builds.
Why does it need the dev server?
Dev builds keep, for every element, the component that rendered it and where in the source it was written. Production builds strip this. Without it Tavero could say that a button differs, but not which file to change.
What about pages behind a login?
Run tavero login once and log in in the browser that opens. The session is saved in .tavero/ and used for every scan. If a session expires, the scan reports the routes that landed on the login page.
What does it write?
Only <project>/.tavero/: scans, crops, the saved session and decisions.json. It never changes your code. Add .tavero/ to .gitignore except decisions.json, which you can commit to share decisions.
How fast is a rescan?
A full scan of a few dozen routes at three widths takes minutes. A rescan of one route and one rule takes seconds, and findings from routes you did not rescan are carried over. After a partial rescan diff says which routes may still carry a finding; run a full scan to confirm.
Does it send my code anywhere?
No. Tavero runs on your machine and makes no network requests of its own beyond your dev server and the backend it calls. There is no account and no telemetry.
Is it free?
Yes. Tavero is free and open source under the MIT license.
